Clemson University: College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences: Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering
Post Doctoral Fellow - Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Location: Clemson University
The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Clemson University is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral research associate position. The candidate will be working with Prof. Ming Yang in the area of heterogeneous catalysis for sustainable energy generation and utilization.
This Post Doctoral position is for two-years with projected start date of September 2020, with potential renewal contingent on positive performance review and available funding resources.
The research focus of this position involves experimental development of transition-metal-based catalytic materials at atomic scale for applications in thermal- and/or electro-reaction environment. The candidate will have the option of choosing research areas from low-carbon-footprint utilization of shale gas, emissions control of greenhouse gases, to making value-added chemicals from N2 or CO2.
We seek individuals who embrace opportunities to work collaboratively with other leading scholars from universities, national laboratories, and industry partners.
- Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science and engineering, physics, or a closely related field.
- Experience in catalytic materials development work for efficient activations of small molecules, aiming for eliminating greenhouse gas emissions and harvesting clean energies.
- Experience in running and upgrading thermal and/ or electro reaction systems equipped with inhouse detectors such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometer, and/or infrared spectroscopy for identifying reaction products and quantifying their concentrations.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment and interact with collaborators in computational, electron microscopy, and synchrotron studies.
Interested candidates should arrange an application package of a one-page cover letter, a full CV, and a list of two references (names, emails and affiliations) to submit thorough the online application system Interfolio (http://apply.interfolio.com/77007).
Applications received by August 10th, 2020 will be given full consideration, but the position will be left open until filled.
Professor Ming Yang received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. He majored in both Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in college. Yang has over ten years of heterogeneous catalysis research experience in both academia and industry, and he has advanced the emerging concept of single-atom catalysis for efficient fuel-gas processing and cleaner vehicle operations. Yang has published his first and corresponding author research articles in peer-reviewed journals including Science, Nature Chemistry, Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Applied Catalysis B: Environmental
. Yang is an inventor of several patents that have been licensed for commercialization. Prof. Yang is the serving president of the Michigan Chapter of the North American Catalysis Society. For more information, please find through:
