Widener University School of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the robotics engineering department. Widener University is leading the region with a new robotics engineering major and is among a few pioneering institutions offering this exciting opportunity nationwide. Responsibilities include teaching and developing courses (including laboratory and design courses) for the robotics engineering undergraduate and graduate curricula, research and service. The successful candidate is expected to publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed technical journals, and develop and sustain an externally funded research program.
Earned doctorate in robotics engineering or a closely-related field with research or industrial experience in robotics; Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the application of robotics including, but not limited to, advanced manufacturing, process automation, autonomous systems, collaborative and adaptive robots; Candidates should be qualified to teach courses in robotics engineering, and in one or more of the following areas: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate engineering education; Demonstrated ability or potential for scholarly work of high caliber and for securing extramural funding within their areas of expertise. The successful candidate is also expected to advise/mentor students and to work collegially in support of the continuing growth of the new robotics engineering major and the School of Engineering; Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
