Potential Postdoctoral Researcher in Safety and Risk Engineering

The Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center (MKOPSC) is the world’s foremost university-based Process Safety Center. The Center serves industry, government, academia, and the public. MKOPSC is seeking the interest of a motivated and qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team of Safety and Risk Engineering researchers. The MKOPSC provides a unique opportunity for talented and skilled individuals to enhance their skills, engage in cutting-edge research, and contribute to the field. The MKOPSC is accepting expressions of interest for a postdoc position in safety and risk engineering with the following responsibilities and requirements. 



  • Conduct advanced-level research on process safety and risk engineering, consequence analysis, hazard identification, and sustainable energy.
  • Work with researchers and industry experts to create novel safety solutions.
  • Design and conduct experiments, collect, understand, analyze, and interpret research data and findings.
  • Learn the latest advancements and research work in safety and risk engineering.
  • Take research initiatives and contribute to ongoing projects in the center.
  • Publish research findings in reputable scientific safety and risk engineering journals and present work at conferences.



  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Process Safety Engineering, Risk Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the safety of emerging energy technologies and energy transitions.
  • Desire to contribute to the center's progress through fundamental scientific and technological achievements in safety and risk engineering.
  • Proven track record of performing research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • The ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proactive, highly motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
