DOCTORAL CANDIDATE IN REAL ESTATE ECONOMICS
The position is at Real Estate Economics Research Group in the Department of Built Environment (https://www.aalto.fi/en/department-of-built-environment/real-estate-economi…). The Real estate Economics Research Group (REG) focuses on research on real estate from the perspectives of e.g. business, management, land policy, technology, finance, economics and law. The Real Estate Research Group at Aalto University is the only university-level research unit in Finland focusing on the broad area of real estate. The group has 7 professors, that cover broad range of the thematic research areas and related research methods, from econometrics and quantitative analysis to legal dogmatic, qualitative research and future studies. Now, our group has about 20 full-time doctoral students.
Real Estate Economics Research Group in Aalto University has an open position for a doctoral candidate in real estate economics. The position is a funded full-time position, for 4 years (2+2 years). The position is open to doctoral proposals in all areas covered by the Real Estate Group.
The call is open for candidates with a wide range of backgrounds. You should have excellent academic qualifications and study results. You should have a strong interest in doing research. You are fluent in English and you have good communication skills. You are organized, rigorous and able to work independently. As part of your personal development, you will be encouraged to engage in teaching (formal training also provided), research activities, conferences and events.
The doctoral student position is contract-based; a two-year contract is granted first, followed by a possible extension for two-year period depending on the achievements during the first contractual period. In a maximum of four years, the doctoral student is required to 1) complete the doctoral dissertation based on peer-review publications (accepted and submitted), 2) finish relevant courses for 40 ECTS credits and 3) participate in teaching. 4. Short research proposal that describes your initial research idea (max 1 page). At the stage of application the research proposals are used for evaluating the potential the candidate has for doing a PhD.
