Basic Qualifications
Earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence and commitment in teaching engineering students, with good communication skills. Potential areas of teaching include traditional disciplinary subjects such as Dynamics, Vibrations, Control Systems, Thermodynamics, Fluids, Heat Transfer, Measurement Sciences (Instrumentation), and Design, as well as emerging topics.
Responsibilities
A. Teaching undergraduate courses, undergraduate laboratories, and graduate courses.
1. Preparing for and conducting all assigned class meetings, including associated laboratory sessions;
2. Assigning and evaluating student work appropriately;
3. Being available to students for consultation outside of class via regular office hours and emails;
4. Submitting electronic copies of each syllabus, including approved expected learning outcomes, and examinations to the Mechanical Engineering Department;
5. Assigning student grades appropriately and submitting them to the Office of Student Records by the designated deadline;
6. Complying with university and school policies, including those delineated in the School of Engineering Term Faculty Handbook; and
7. Conduct course assessments as required by the department.
B. Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as assigned by the Department or the School of Engineering. Duties may include:
1. attending department and school meetings;
2. supporting assessment activities; and
3. developing equipment and experiments.
