The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering (CoE) is seeking a candidate for a career-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice Rank for the new Software Engineering BS degree that will be offered beginning in Fall 2021 for both on campus and online students.

The new Software Engineering (SFWE) degree program will be collaboratively led by the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Systems and Industrial Engineering (SIE) Departments within the CoE. We seek a candidate who can demonstrate outstanding teaching methods as well as the ability to develop and teach undergraduate courses in a variety of formats (e.g., on campus, online, interactive video). The program places a high value on collaboration both within the specific degree program, but also across other engineering disciplines. We seek individuals who bring energy, leadership, and a deep commitment to academic excellence. We are particularly interested in candidates who can work with a diverse student population, stakeholders, and colleagues. The desired Software Engineering teaching areas include but not limited to the following: Computer Programming, Software Requirements Analysis and Test, Software Design, Software Assurance, Machine Learning, Embedded Systems, and Software Development Operations (DevOps / DevSecOps). We are seeking a candidate who will demonstrate curricula development and instruction consistent with the department and college’s purpose, vision, and values. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, Software Engineering will contribute to building a strong team of culturally diverse faculty and staff who are committed to preparing traditional, post-traditional, and transfer students for success in the 21st century workforce.

This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.
