Job/Position Summary

The college of engineering at University of Sharjah invites applicants for a faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in water desalination engineering program. The successful candidates must have earned B.S. MSc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical Engineering. Industrial experience is an asset.  The successful candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research, advising, and course development. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and professional experience.

For this position, we seek candidates with a research focus in one or more but not limited  of the following areas:

·         Thermal Desalination

·         Thermal System Design and Analysis

·         Simulation of Thermal desalination process

·         Membrane production and applications 

·         Membrane Desalination

·         Pre and Post treatment system for desalinations

 

Candidates should have a strong record of accomplishment in research; publications in top field journals of water desalination technologies area using both/either membrane technology and thermal desalination, and demonstrated abilities to secure competitive funding. Major Responsibilities

-         Ability to teach a range of core and elective courses in water desalination at any level; as well as supervision of senior design projects in desalination and water engineering.

-         Faculty members in the program are expected to develop curricula and laboratories and should plan to establish externally funded research programs and publish peer-reviewed papers. 

-         Faculty member are also required to serve on committees at the program and university level

·         Ability to manage stress well and adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment.

 

Qualifications

·         BSc in Degree in Chemical/Water Engineering

·         PhD in Chemical/ Water Engineering or related field in the area of  “Thermal Desalination , Membrane Fabrication and Characterization and Applications”

·         Minimum three years’ experience in university teaching or industry.
