  • Career-track (non-tenured) faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full professor of practice level in Architectural Engineering.

These positions are part of the third year in a multi-year hiring process associated with planned growth in the Civil and Architectural Engineering programs, and are aligned with the Building a Changing World vision as a pillar within the University’s Strategic Plan.  A description for each of the specific areas follow:

Transportation Engineering (tenure/tenure-track).  With this hire, we seek to hire a tenured/tenure-track faculty member with one or more research interests in the following areas that include, but are not limited to, transportation demand management; behavioral economics; travel behavior; accessibility; equity; smart communities; transportation network and fleet resilience; and multi-modal transportation planning, from an individual behavior level to a network-level scale. The successful candidate will be expected to complement existing departmental research in the field of transportation that supports the sustainable, climate-conscious design of transportation systems and integrates computational and physical systems for multi-disciplinary engineering design and operations. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate and maintain connections across campus, with other universities, and across industry partners. These collaborations will be expected through the Center for Applied Transportation Sciences (CATS) within the CAEM Department, and housed in the College of Engineering. CATS has several established public agency connections and members, including the City of Tucson, the City of Phoenix, Pima County, and the Arizona Department of Transportation.  Successful candidates will also be committed to teaching a broad selection of undergraduate and graduate courses in transportation engineering.  (Apply to https://talent.arizona.edu [posting #: req12818; direct link])

Architectural Engineering (career-track).  With this hire, we seek to hire a career-track professor of practice in the area of Architectural Engineering.  The B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering has four track offerings in the areas of construction engineering management, mechanical systems, power systems/lighting, and structures with a growing, integrated emphasis in Building Sciences.  Future development of graduate program(s) in Architectural Engineering is expected. The successful candidate is expected to strengthen educational opportunities in one, or more, of the four existing track areas and/or expand the curriculum through offerings in new, synergistic areas.  The successful candidate will also perform additional activities to further the Architectural Engineering program that may include, but are not limited to, coordinating student club and competition activities, growing industrial ties, fundraising, undergraduate recruiting, academic advising, and graduate placement activities.  (Apply to https://talent.arizona.edu [posting #: req12851; direct link])

(Architectural Engineering)  The successful candidate is expected to provide excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and education; contribute to mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds; and assist in the growth of a relatively new undergraduate program.  Teaching activities are expected to include five courses per year and span across core and advanced engineering courses.  The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute in meaningful ways to the interdisciplinary educational activities that complement and are synergistic within the University’s Strategic Plan.

Qualifications:  (Transportation Engineering) A Ph.D. degree in the specified, or closely related, discipline is required.  Candidates will be evaluated based on their alignment within the posted areas of interest and on their academic credentials, their record of research, teaching and scholarly activities and potential for success in developing a funded research program and making contributions in research, teaching and service to the field.  Candidates for the Associate or Full Professor rank must have a distinguished record of published research, demonstrated impact on the profession and success at securing funding to support a research program.  The selected candidate may be required to provide higher education credentials during the offer discussions.

(Architectural Engineering) A Ph.D. degree, or M.S. degree and five years of experience, in the specified, or closely related, discipline is required.  Licensure as a Professional Engineer (or equivalent licensure) is preferred.  Candidates will be evaluated based on their alignment within the posted areas of interest and on their academic and/or professional credentials, their record of research, teaching and scholarly activities and potential for making contributions in teaching and service to the program.  Candidates for the Associate or Full Professor of Practice rank must have a distinguished academic record and/or professional experience with demonstrated impact on the profession.  The selected candidate may be required to provide higher education credentials during the offer discussions.
