LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY – Institute for Micromanufacturing
Tenure Track Faculty Position

The College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to support the mission of its Institute for Micromanufacturing (IfM). We are especially interested in candidates with demonstrated research accomplishments in the fields of materials science and materials engineering, particularly machine learning applied to materials and/or manufacturing research. Opportunities exist for the ideal candidate to leverage state-wide resources being coordinated through a newly funded $20M five-year project (2020-2025) to establish the Louisiana Materials Design Alliance (LAMDA).

Successful tenure-track candidates are expected to actively participate in multidisciplinary research efforts in the College; initiate, build and sustain an externally funded research program; and supervise masters and doctoral students. Commitment to excellence in teaching and quality university- and professional-level service are also expected. The College is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. To build a diverse workforce the College encourages applications from individuals with disabilities, minorities, veterans and women.

Applicants must have an earned doctorate and undergraduate degree from any field of Engineering or Science with close alignment to materials science and/or materials engineering. To apply:

  • Compile a single PDF file that includes 1) cover letter; 2) curriculum vitae; 3) statement of research interests and goals; 4) description of teaching experience and interests; 5) statement of diversity; and 6) the names and contact information for at least three references. The statement of diversity should highlight the applicant’s views, experiences, and plans to enhance the participation of members from underrepresented groups in research and education pursuits.
  • Only applications via email will be accepted. Please write "IfM Search 2020 (Lastname, Initials)" in the subject line, replacing the (…) with your information.
  • Send the email with the PDF application file to: ifmsearch@latech.edu.

Review of applications will begin immediately, with an application deadline of December 1, 2020. The anticipated position start date is March 1, 2021, but can be negotiated.

The IfM is a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment focused on innovations in multiscale materials, structures, devices and systems. In addition to scientific research, the IfM also includes in its mission the education and training to the next generation of scientists and engineers. More information on the IfM research center can be found on its website (http://ifm.latech.edu).
