Mechanical Engineering Tenure-Track Faculty Position

City College of New York

The Grove School of Engineering at the City College of New York located in Manhattan, New York, is seeking highly qualified candidates for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position. The candidate is expected to develop and conduct research in the energy area, preferably with emphasis on the application of AI/Data Analytics to different energy problems including oil/gas production to optimize processes or operation.

The position would form part of the core faculty of the interdisciplinary Energy Institute and will be housed in the Mechanical Engineering Department. The CUNY Energy Institute (https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/energy) has ongoing active and highly funded research programs in energy storage, nuclear energy and oil/gas/water nexus, as well as research components addressing complex fluids under the NSF-funded Partnerships for International Research and Collaboration (PIRE). The faculty member for this position would be expected to not only develop new areas of research, but also participate in the PIRE project and greatly enhance the existing research components, with possible applications of AI/data analytics/data science, especially in the field of energy. The candidate should also be able to contribute to teaching in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or another closely related field and have a potential for building up and raising funding for a significant R&D program. Those applying for an Associate Professor position should have established records in research that demonstrate nationally and internationally recognized expertise.
