The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Utah has a fully-funded PhD position with August 2023 start date. Successful candidate will be hired as a Graduate Assistant (GA) and work on applications of operations research to transportation systems. Applications will include snowplow routing, ride sharing, humanitarian logistics, etc.
A successful candidate should have a strong background in (transportation) optimization. The candidate should feel comfortable implementing algorithms and processing data in at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, MATLAB, R), while experience with mathematical programming software (GAMS, CPLEX, AIMMS) is an asset. All students must submit GRE scores, while international students must also submit TOEFL scores. The application deadline is February 10.
