It is the goal of USC to build on our already strong team in this area (15 faculty, ~50 graduate students) to support this industry which is rapidly growing in our state and throughout the Southeast U.S. - including the creation of the Creation of the Carolina Institute for Battery Innovation (CIBI). Specific research areas of interest for this search include: i) new chemistries and active materials; ii) solidstate electrolytes; iii) continuum-scale modeling and systems modeling; iv) battery safety and reliability; and v) novel approaches to recycling.
