FACULTY POSITIONS IN SCHOOL OF AERONAUTICS AND ASTRONAUTICS

The School of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AAE) at Purdue University invites applications for non-tenure track Faculty of Engineering Practice positions at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in: (a) topics relevant to “space engineering”, including but not limited to: spacecraft or launch vehicle systems engineering, space policy, in-space manufacturing and assembly, and human space operations, or (b) topics relevant to aircraft aerodynamics, design and performance including but not limited to: low-speed experimental aerodynamics, aircraft configuration aerodynamics, aircraft performance, flight testing, compressible flows, computational fluid dynamics, technologies for vertical or short take- off and landing, and aircraft design.

Successful candidates must hold an advanced degree (MS with thesis or Ph.D.) in aerospace engineering or a closely-related discipline by employment start date, and have professional experience which can be integrated with AAE’s research, education, and/or engagement/outreach programs. The successful candidates will apply their experiences to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in areas related to space engineering or aircraft aerodynamics, design and performance. Teaching duties may include hybrid and fully-online instruction. The successful candidates will develop national recognition via activities such as: advising student teams in classes and projects, publishing and presenting about educational or applied research activities, engaging with industry and government organizations, and participating in externally funded research and/or workforce development activities.
