The College of Engineering (CoE) at New Mexico State University (NMSU) invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate and Full Professor. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related field. Further, it is an institutional goal for this search to support interdisciplinary studies. Hence, candidates should have strong interdisciplinary credentials and interests, and capable of working in at least two College of Engineering Departments. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment for teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with the ability to introduce new courses relevant to the advancement of engineering sciences. The candidates must have demonstrated capabilities for producing, or having established, an internationally recognized and sustainable research program with a well-respected archival publication record. Productivity in the CoE is based on teaching excellence, research, scholarly & creative activities (mentorship of graduate students & post docs, publications, competitive grants, patents, etc.) and service to both the university and profession.

The College of Engineering Search Committee will consider exceptional candidates in all areas of engineering with a particular interest in candidates whose primary research expertise overlaps multiple departments—including but not limited to the following areas: Manufacturing, Systems, Infrastructures, Robotics, Hypersonics, Water, Energy, Bio, and Emerging fields.

The CoE supports faculty to build collaborative programs with Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, AFRL’s Kirtland Air Force Base, and other centers of science throughout the state of NM. Further, the CoE’s research portfolio is growing in expenditures while increasing connectivity and visibility among other universities for jointly seeking major research projects/programs/centers. The CoE foci include addressing engineering challenges that are of importance to the following agencies NSF, NIH, DoE, DoD, and USDA. Candidates should plan to engage in funding opportunities by these, and other federal agencies, to support an internationally recognized research program.

The College of Engineering offers five departments with terminal Ph.D. programs. The five departments include Chemical & Materials Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. Candidates are highly encouraged to visit the NMSU webpage: https://engr.nmsu.edu/

The College of Engineering is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive teaching, research, and working environment. Potential applicants who share this goal, especially underrepresented minorities, women, and persons with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply for the position. NMSU is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. All offers of employment, oral and written, are contingent on the university’s verification of credentials, the individual’s eligibility for employment in the United States, and other information required by federal law, state law, and NMSU policies and procedures.

The application package should consist of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research and teaching statements, and names and contact information of three references. Optionally, applicants may attach up to three key publications.
