The Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology invites applications for a non-tenure-track instructor position to begin in the Fall semester of 2021. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related discipline and demonstrate expertise through scholarly publications, research and/or work experience. Evidence of teaching excellence, good communication skills and participation in professional activities will be considered in the selection process. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Applications are encouraged from candidates in any area of petroleum engineering; however, knowledge and ability to conduct research and teach in the field of production, well stimulation and completions, optimization, and big data analytics are desired.
The program provides B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Petroleum Engineering. Current enrollments consist of about 50 undergraduates and 30 graduate students. Six fulltime faculty support the research and teaching mission of the department. In addition, the program has strong collaborations with Petroleum Recovery Research Center (PRRC) and the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, both entities on campus, and with New Mexico’s oil and gas industry.
