Job Description Summary
Position: The RFID Lab in the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellow for research. This position is considered a full-time, non-tenure track 12-month position contingent upon available funding and performance.
About the RFID Lab: The
RFID Lab includes a simulated factory, warehouse and distribution center, along with various retail, aviation, and food formats – including mall apparel and high-end fashion boutiques. The Lab is active in many research areas, including engineering, food safety, logistics and using a variety of wireless technologies to develop new solutions. The
RFID Lab engages undergraduate and graduate students and faculty members to not only test technology, but also develop intellectual property, obtain patents and potentially generate growth in the

Responsibilities: The RFID Lab seeks an Automation Team Developer for a 1-year (renewal up to maximum of 4 years) postdoc position to focus on the business case and technical implementation of RFID and other emerging technologies in retail, supply chain, and manufacturing. Research areas include manufacturing and logistics sectors in enhancing production and supply chain competitiveness, as well as in the implementation of RFID technology. The aim of this position and the research is to explore new RFID functions to enhance the competitiveness in the retail, supply chain and manufacturing areas to achieve rapid responsiveness, cost optimization and system efficiency under a dynamic changing environment. This position will plan and conduct assigned and/or original research as described in the project description autonomously, while working collaboratively with Auburn University faculty, staff, postdocs and students, and will maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results. This position will prepare manuscripts for publication in collaboration with Auburn University faculty, staff, postdocs, and students and present research findings at professional meetings. Additionally, this position will mentor graduate and undergraduate students as appropriate and perform safety and environmental measures for students and staff. Work for this position may be performed in a laboratory, classroom, office, or remote field site. Workload priorities may need to be shifted and schedules changed in order to meet multiple deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, upon start date. Additional qualifications include:
- Excellent written, organizational, and communication skills.
- Selected candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of appointment and continue working legally for the term of employment.
