The Aerospace Engineering Department is inviting applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. The positions will begin in August 2025 – Fall semester. The responsibilities will include teaching a wide variety of courses in aerospace engineering, with a primary focus on teaching and conducting research in at least one of the following areas:

  1. Aerodynamics: Both Low- and High-Speed Aerodynamics with special interest in candidates with experience in theoretical and experimental Hypersonics.
  2. Aerospace Structures: With a special interest in candidates with experience in theoretical and experimental aerospace structures.

 

A Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely aligned field from an accredited university is required by the date of appointment. Commitment to Inclusive Excellence and Student Success is required. Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on education in a multidisciplinary and diverse environment, excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong interest in curriculum and laboratory development in our B.S. and M.S. programs, pursuing grants, and supervising student research are preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, aerospace teaching, and industrial experience.

Opportunities for research, consulting, and summer employment in the aerospace industry and/or Government research centers are available in Southern California.
