The vision of the College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University is to be a world leader in integrating engineering and science in education and research. The College is experiencing significant growth in several program areas and is undertaking an aggressive faculty recruiting campaign to attract culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. Construction of a new $40M integrated engineering and science education building has provided the College an additional 128,000 square feet of educational space. Candidates must hold a doctorate or equivalent degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or in a field with significant overlap. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to conduct high-quality research and teaching. Candidates with expertise relevant to one or more of the College’s interdisciplinary research centers (https://coes.latech.edu/research/institutes-centers/) who also place a high value on teaching quality and student interaction are of particular interest. Opportunities exist for the ideal candidate to leverage state-wide resources being coordinated through a $20M five-year project (2020-2025) to establish the Louisiana Materials Design Alliance (LAMDA) and transform research and education in advanced manufacturing and materials throughout the State.
Successful tenure-track candidates are expected to actively participate in multidisciplinary research efforts in the College; initiate, build and sustain an externally funded research program; and supervise masters and doctoral students. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong teaching skills, and a commitment to high-quality university and professional service are also expected. The College is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
