Assistant Professor of Practice Position

Position Description and Responsibilities:
The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department at North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites applications for a nine-month Assistant Professor of Practice position. This position will be 90 percent teaching and 10 percent service. Responsibilities will include supporting NDSU’s land-grant mission of teaching, and service. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of manufacturing and industrial engineering. Candidates with strength in management, engineering economics, quality control, and manufacturing are especially encouraged to apply, although all areas of industrial and manufacturing engineering will be considered.

Hold a PhD or MS degree with 10 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering, or a closely related discipline. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English,
have credentials and prior experience teaching a variety of courses in industrial and manufacturing engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience in statistical methods, engineering economics and manufacturing. An interest and an ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of staff, colleagues and students and provide exceptional service to faculty, staff, students, and guests by fostering a professional and collaborative work environment is also required.

The IME department has seven full-time faculty and over 170 students in programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management and the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering degrees are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
