I’m recruiting 2 Ph.D. students with fully-funded assistantships to join my research group in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023 in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Utah State University (USU). Admitted students will work on 2 NSF-funded Projects regarding the mechanics of energy storage materials. Project 1 seeks to use a data-driven method to elucidate the interaction between mechanics and electrochemistry; Project 2 seeks to design the next-generation all-solid-state lithium batteries. Both projects involve computational modeling, and students will be trained to become experts in multiscale computational mechanics. Relevant research experience is desirable, but NOT required.

My research group currently has 2 Ph.D. candidates and 1 undergrad researcher, all from different countries. All qualified candidates are welcome to apply. We especially encourage historically underrepresented minorities and female students to apply. Please find more information about my research group at https://sites.google.com/site/haoranwangsresearch/.

Admission requirements can be found at https://engineering.usu.edu/mae/students/graduate/apply.

Interested candidates should send an email to haoran.wang@usu.edu with their CVs.

About USU: USU is an R1 university located in Logan, Utah, which is 1.5 hours’ drive from Salt Lake City. USU had an annual research funding of more than $400 million in 2021. It is also home to the Space Dynamics Lab, a federally sponsored research corporation. The Aerospace Engineering graduate program at USU is ranked in the Top 50 by U.S. News.
