A PhD position in the area of kinetic Monte Carlo modeling of interface phenomena is available in the Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering at the Virginia Tech. Candidates should be strongly self-motivated individuals possessing a MS degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science and engineering or other closely related disciplines, and have demonstrated extensive experience in relevant research area.

Strong C++ programming skills is desirable. Familiarity with using the command line in a Linux computing environment is assumed. Experience with parallel computing with MPI is a plus. This position will be fully supported for their tuition, stipend and student insurance.
