The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is currently accepting applications for multiple Postdoctoral Research Associates. Being highly active in sponsored research focusing on urban mobility/infrastructure and water resources/environmental sustainability, the Department hosts the Freight Mobility Research Institute (fmri.fau.edu), which is a TIER 1 University Transportation Center sponsored by the US Department of Transportation, and the Center for Water Resiliency and Risk Reduction (cwr3.fau.edu).

Florida Atlantic University currently serves around 30,000 students including a significant number of postdoctoral researchers. It ranks as the most racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse institution in Florida’s State University System and is classified as a High Research Activity institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Research is taking place across a broad spectrum of disciplines, with special emphasis placed upon the university’s three signature themes – marine and coastal issues, biotechnology, and contemporary societal challenges. Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Postdoctoral Research Associate will include but are not limited to leading funded research projects on watershed master plans, supervising graduate research assistants, and writing research proposals, reports, and papers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Water Resources, GIS, Civil/Environmental Engineering, and related fields
  • Demonstrated research credentials
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Potential to collaborate on the development of research proposals and grants
  • Demonstrated leadership/managerial skills

Preferred Qualifications

Research experience in hydrology, water resource engineering, flood modeling, flood control, geospatial engineering, remote sensing, GIS, and related areas.

Duration of the Position

These are full‐time (40 hours/week) positions with a contract for 12 months and an opportunity to extend to multiple years, subject to performance and funding availability. The position will start immediately after the background check for employment is completed.
