JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS: The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking qualified and highly motivated candidates to fill a non-tenure track Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor position to teach courses in computer and cybersecurity engineering. Specifically, we are seeking for a candidate who is skilled in teaching programming languages, software engineering, computer organization, networks, and cybersecurity engineering. Candidates are also expected to have a strong record and commitment to mentoring undergraduate students and a commitment to professional service.
Qualifications: The candidate should have a Master’s (for lecturer) or Ph.D. (for clinical assistant professor) degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers the BS, MSE, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering; BS in Cybersecurity; the MSSE in Software Engineering in collaboration with Computer Science; MS in Cybersecurity through a multi-college collaboration; and the PhD degree in the Optical Science and Engineering multidisciplinary program. The department has 21 tenured/tenure-earning faculty with over 750 undergraduate students and about 200 graduate students. The ECE department has research strengths in the areas of cybersecurity, control systems, physical electronics, and embedded computer systems. Current sources of faculty funding include federal agencies such as NSF, NSA, DOD and NASA, and industry.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Engineering currently has a research focus that addresses three National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Grand Challenge problems: secure cyberspace; restore and improve urban infrastructure; and engineer tools of scientific discovery. The College of Engineering and the ECE department play an important role in several UAH research thrust areas including (a) cybersecurity and big data, (b) aerospace and systems engineering, and © earth, atmospheric, and space systems. The College enrolls 35% of UAH’s undergraduates in ABET‐accredited programs in aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial and systems, and mechanical engineering.
