The J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for tenured/tenure-track assistant/associate/full professor level position with a nine-month academic appointment beginning Spring/Fall 2022. The department will consider individuals with demonstrated expertise and experience in computational modeling/simulation methods, artificial intelligence and machine/deep learning algorithms for addressing underlying atomic/molecular scale mechanisms that govern friction, wear, and lubrication. We will also consider candidates with strong hands-on experience in nano, micro, and macro-scale experimental studies involving friction, wear, and lubrication. Furthermore, complementary skills and/or knowledge base in surface engineering and coatings as well as surface and structure analytical characterization techniques and advanced mechanical/tribological testing are desired.
The successful applicant will be required to teach, advise and mentor graduate students, develop an independent, externally funded research program, participate in all aspects of the department’s activities, and serve the profession.
