Job Description Summary

The Department of Biosystems Engineering (www.eng.auburn.edu/bsen), College of Agriculture at Auburn University is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Lecturer in Machine Systems Engineering. This is a non-tenure track 9-month faculty appointment with typical teaching load of three 3-credit hour courses per academic semester. There is the possibility of additional compensation during the summer semester in activities related to teaching, research, or outreach. The projected start date is August 1, 2024.
 
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses that focus on agricultural machinery systems and technologies such as agricultural power and machinery, mechanical power, precision agriculture, hydraulic controls, technology design, and systems analysis for agricultural operations. In addition, the successful candidate will (a) provide career counseling for students in the two majors in the department – biosystems engineering major and biological and technology management major; (b) provide leadership to the profession through state and national professional society participation; and © actively participate on departmental, college, and university committee service.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications is a master’s degree from an accredited institution in biosystems, biological, agricultural, or closely related engineering disciplines by the expected position start date. Documented evidence of individual and/or collaborative work in Machine Systems Engineering is required. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work cooperatively with colleagues across disciplines and to develop high-impact experiences for students. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse audiences. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Desirable qualifications include PhD and/or experience in machine systems engineering; and professional engineering registration or the ability to pursue licensure as a Professional Engineer.
