Work description

  • Maintain a catalogue with new business models (BM) ideas under Renewable Energy Communities context;
  • Explore methodologies of evaluation of the different business models in line with the state of the art, such as Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) with well-defined output metrics (quantitative, qualitative, financial, and non-financial metrics);
  • Formulate and apply optimization algorithms to the different problems identified in each BM;
  • Produce a technical report with the findings and corresponding documentation.

Minimum profile required

  • Knowledge of programming in Python and/or optimization software- Master's degree (or nearing completion) in Engineering, Mathematics or Management or related fields
  • Ability to work autonomously or integrated in a team
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Preference factors

  • Experience in applying CBA methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with optimization
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy Communities (REC) operation
  • Knowledge of operation of REC main assets (Heat Pump, Storage, PV panels, EV chargers etc..)
  • Knowledge of Portuguese would be a plus.

Maintenance stipend: € 990,98 or 1259,64, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.
INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms
established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".
