Assistant/Associate Professor (Career-Track) Faculty Position in Electrical Engineering

Overview:
Washington State University (WSU) Electrical Engineering at Bremerton is a state-funded initiative that has been providing a local alternative for education to students in Kitsap and Pierce Counties. Students take freshman and sophomore year courses at Olympic College, and junior and senior year courses at WSU Bremerton.
We invite applications for a 9-month academic year, full-time scholarly career-track teaching faculty in Electrical Engineering at the assistant or associate professor level. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin their appointment January 1st, 2026 or August 16, 2026. Some specific Electrical Engineering areas (including but not limited to) that are important in the prospective applicant are microelectronics, digital circuit design, microprocessors and signal processing. The successful candidate will be expected to implement evidence-based pedagogy in undergraduate Electrical Engineering lectures along with conducting laboratory-based courses. The position will be considered for either a fixed term appointment (with renewal contingent upon performance) or a continuous appointment depending on qualifications. For consideration toward a continuous appointment at any rank below, candidates must have met the years experience required and possess a PhD in the fields below.
Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor (Career-Track):
- Earned PhD in Electrical Engineering or related, or an earned MS in Electrical Engineering or related by December 15th, 2025 (for January 1 start), or by August 1, 2026(for August 16th start) and at least 3 years of relevant teaching or industry experience.
- Demonstrate strong teaching, communication, and leadership skills.
Required Qualifications for Associate Professor(Career-Track):
- Earned Ph.D in Electrical Engineering or related by December 15th, 2025 (for January 1 start), or by August 1, 2026(for August 16th start) and at least 5 years of relevant teaching or industry experience, or an earned MS in Electrical Engineering or related and at least 10 years of relevant teaching or industry experience.
- Demonstrate strong teaching, communication, and leadership skills., bring real-world experience working on Electrical Engineering jobs and experience in developing Electrical Engineering curriculum.
- Work experience in Electrical Engineering jobs.
- Experience in developing Electrical Engineering curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications for any rank:
- Industry experience, working at industry or working with industry to create student opportunities.
- Experience with curriculum development, program development, and/or student recruitment.
Duties:
The job duties of this position at either rank primarily include teaching undergraduate courses in Electrical Engineering; participating in the continuous teaching assessment activities of the relevant units and WSU campuses; effectively communicating, mentoring and interacting with students; promoting the WSU Bremerton program in other schools and events; and collaborating with others within the unit, the University, or other organizations.
9-month Academic Year Salary:
Scholarly Assistant Professor: $95,000 - 105,000
Scholarly Associate Professor: $110,000 - 125,000
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
