Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering



Description
The School of Engineering at the University of Mount Union invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor rank to begin August 1, 2024. We seek an educator-scholar with emphasis in mechanical engineering. The School of Engineering currently offers four ABET-accredited programs in biomedical, civil, computer, and mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education in a liberal arts setting. Industrial experience is highly desirable. Primary responsibilities include developing the engineering design curriculum, teaching capstone design, CAD, and manufacturing, and participating in the ABET accreditation process. Willingness and flexibility to teach both a variety of mechanical engineering including introductory engineering and general education courses is desired, as well as an interest in participating in the school's unique global engineering course and field experience. Additional responsibilities include advising mechanical engineering students, industrial outreach leading to student internship and employment opportunities, engaging in professional development and scholarly activities, and participation in faculty governance. The School is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service. Qualifications
Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required.
