KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on improving the performance of solar absorbers (direct absorption solar collectors (DASC)) using nanofluids. The post-doc must be able to use advanced discrete type simulation methods that can mimic the energy interactions between heat transfer fluids (HTF) and suspended nanoparticles at the nanoscale in order to reveal the mechanism of energy absorption in nanofluids in DASC systems (volumetric absorption). The postdoc must have prior experience, and publications, in at least one of the following methods: Molecular Dynamics, Dissipative Particle Dynamics, Lattice Boltzmann with immersed boundary method, and discrete element method. Also, any combination of Lagrangian-Eulerian methods such as PIC, is acceptable.
Previous knowledge with the LAMMPS open source package or other discrete nature simulation packages is preferred. The post-doc should be able to work quickly with FORTRAN and C languages, as well as change existing in-house codes at Khalifa University and work with open source code.
