Two to four years of Ph.D. graduate research assistantships are available at the Department of Civil Engineering, New Mexico State University (NMSU). The assistantship may start from the Summer or Fall of 2021. The successful applicant will be working on internally or externally supported projects, including NSF awarded project. The student will work on the Structural Reliability of bridges, offshore wind turbines, and other types of structures. The research assistant will have opportunities to learn and to work on Deep Learning/Machine learning in the various civil structural engineering applications.
The minimum qualification for the position includes:
(1) B.S. or M.S. in civil engineering, architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related engineering fields by the time of hiring.
Preferred qualifications for the position include:
(1) M.S. in civil engineering, architectural engineering, or mechanical engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering by the time of hiring.
(2) Experienced in one of the following areas: Structural reliability, Offshore Wind Turbine, Concrete Bridges, Machine learning, Deep learning
(3) Experienced in multiples of the following computational tool: Python, MATLAB, FERUM, OpenSees, OrcaFlex, Abaqus, TensorFlow, or MATLAB deep learning.
