The James Watt School of Engineering (JWSE) at the University of Glasgow is an energetic and growing international centre of excellence for Engineering research and teaching.

Candidates with prior experience in research and teaching in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (e.g. in Microelectronics, Power Engineering, Engineering Design, Digital Design, Embedded systems, Communications and other relevant fields) are encouraged to apply.

This post is based at the main campus of the University of Glasgow, but it is a requirement that the appointee will travel regularly to the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu and Hainan, PR China. It is expected that the appointee will travel to China (both Chengdu and Hainan) around 4-6 times per annum for visits typically of 14 to 21 days duration, but longer or more frequent visits may be required to meet operational demands.

In this role, you will carry out research and scholarship in the areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (e.g. in Microelectronics, Power Engineering, Engineering Design, Digital Design, Embedded systems, Communications and other relevant fields).

You will deliver an excellent student experience through teaching and assessment as well as contribute to management and administration. At Grade 7 to 9, demonstrate leadership and contribute to academic and strategic management of our collaborative teaching programmes with China.

For consideration at Reader level:

You will provide strategic leadership and operational management oversight of academic and any other activities associated with the University of Glasgow Partnership with UESTC (Chengdu and Hainan), promote coordination between colleagues in Glasgow and China, and develop collaboration and external relations within China and East Asia.
