A postdoctoral Research Fellow position (renewable up to two years) is available in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Major responsibility involves conducting laboratory test and writing scientific papers; additionally, the appointee will assist the PI in writing research proposals and supervising students.

The appointee will conduct research on advanced cementitious or geopolymer material for balanced lightweightness and thermal conductivity (core requirement of the position). The developed materials may be incorporated into chilled ceiling panel for tropical indoor applications. Additional functionalities such as indoor pollutant removal, CO2 and relative humidity control may be added in the composite material design as well (desirable but not a must). The candidate must graduate with PhD degree from a reputable university with relevant research experience/expertise and strong journal publication record. Prior experience on similar research and strong record of journal publication and/or IP generation will be favourably reviewed. The candidate should have relevant experiment skills such as nano and/or microstructural based material tailoring, functionalization and coating on fiber or nanoparticles, mechanical testing, thermal and/or electrical conductivity testing, and material chemical and micro-structural analysis.

The candidate can have opportunity to interact/collaborate with other colleagues within PI’s group. The topics currently are actively pursed in the group include self-healing material, self-sensing material, sustainable cementless material with regional waste/by-products, 3D printable concrete material, and their structural applications.
