POSITION: Visiting Assistant Professor in the Building Science program within the Department of Sustainable Technology & the Built Environment (STBE), beginning August 1, 2019 (available immediately). This is a one-year position with commensurate salary and benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach three (3) construction engineering undergraduate courses per semester as needed in the Building Science program. Areas of need include, but are not limited to 1) Statics and Strength of Structures and 2) Construction Materials.
QUALIFICATIONS: An earned terminal degree (doctorate in a related field or an M.Arch with professional licensure) or ABD is required.
THE DEPARTMENT houses three academic programs: the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Sustainable Technology; the BS in Building Sciences, with three concentrations; and the Master of Science in Technology, with three concentrations. The Department includes 25 full-time faculty serving approximately 700 undergraduate students and 30 graduate students. The recently restructured STBE Department, driven by the University’s Strategic Plan to facilitate transformative growth within our academic programs, plays an integral role in building the University’s sustainability agenda. Faculty from these three programs have brought in over $8 million in external funding since 2007. Their work exemplifies a commitment to applied research, with specific emphases on renewable energy and on sustainable design and construction of healthy, high-performance buildings. Students in these programs have achieved notable successes in national and international competitions such as the Formula Sun Grand Prix and American Solar Challenge, the USDOE Race to Zero and Solar Decathlon, Solar Decathlon Europe, and the USEPA P3, among others.
