The Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University invites outstanding applicants for two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level. There is a preference for candidates with expertise in experimental research in the fields of catalysis, reaction engineering, or translational bioengineering/medicine. Candidates with computational research interests in the areas of molecular biology, systems biology, bioinformatics, or application of data science and machine learning to biological data to gain new insights in the fields of microbiology, immunology, and oncology are also of particular interest. Outstanding applicants with expertise besides these preferred areas of interests may be considered.


Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field, a track record of outstanding research, and a commitment to excellence in education, student mentoring, outreach and/or community engagement. Applicants with postdoctoral research experience will be given preference. Successful candidates will be expected to develop nationally and internationally recognized and externally funded research program, form departmental and multidisciplinary collaborations, foster partnerships within and outside Texas Tech University as well as industry, teach core graduate and undergraduate courses in chemical engineering, engage in strategic outreach activities, and perform internal and professional service.


Candidates are sought who share Whitacre College of Engineering’s vision of excelling as a global leader in engineering education and research. The College of Engineering was founded in 1925 as one of the original academic areas when Texas Tech opened in 1923. The Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering offers nine engineering bachelor’s programs and one master’s level program accredited by the EAC of ABET, and one computer science program accredited by CAC of ABET. The college offers 12 additional master's, and 8 doctoral degree programs. The college has 4679 undergraduate and 1550 graduate students and 158 full-time faculty members. Total restricted research expenditures in 2022 fiscal year were $17.9M. The college awarded 875 BS, 446 MS and 59 PhD degrees in the 2022-23 academic year.
