Manufacturing Engineering is the School’s newest undergraduate program and strengthens UBC’s impact on the evolving world of advanced design and manufacturing. The program is offered at both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses, with the Vancouver campus specializing in manufacturing science and the Okanagan campus specializing in production management.     

We are seeking applicants in all fields of manufacturing engineering. Candidates whose interests are in any area of manufacturing engineering are strongly encouraged to apply, including:

Information Systems Engineering and Management - Data and knowledge management, big data, cybersecurity, cloud-based technologies in manufacturing, production system monitoring, control, and optimization, resource planning, operations research, predictive maintenance, artificial intelligence, machine learning.

Digital Manufacturing - Digital transformation in manufacturing, digitalization for product lifecycle management (PLM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM), industrial internet of things (IIOT), Industry 4.0, cyberphysical production systems (CPPS), modelling of manufacturing processes, smart factories.

Robotics - Robotics for industrial applications, robot vision, immersive technologies in manufacturing, human-machine interaction, collaborative and assistive robotics, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, embedded systems, smart-sensor infrastructure.

Eligibility and duties

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise Master’s and Ph.D. students, and provide service to the University and the community. The successful candidate is expected to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia.
