DESCRIPTION:
The School of Mechanical, Industrial & Aeronautical Engineering invites applications for appointment at the levels of Senior Lecturer or Lecturer. Degrees in the School are internationally accredited and a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are offered. The School has a strong team of dedicated staff and excellent facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
At the Senior Lecturer level, an earned PhD is essential. The successful candidate will have a record of scholarship/teaching and be research active in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering. S/he would conduct and supervise research at all levels. A record of substantial research funding would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have a proven record of interactions with industry and the profession. A National Research Foundation (NRF) rating would be advantageous.
At the Lecturer level, a BSc Eng/B Eng and an MSc (Eng) in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering are essential. The successful candidate would be research active in these fields. S/he would conduct and supervise research at the Masters level. Evidence of having secured funding would be advantageous.
Successful candidates at either level will have a good knowledge of the basic material pertaining to undergraduate Mechanical, Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering programmes, and the background to be able to be registered as a Professional Engineer, if not already registered in South Africa (https://www.ecsa.co.za). Evidence of research activity in the Just Energy Transition, Water Resource Management or Digitalization will be an advantage.

Contributions towards excellence in research, education and professional services; academic leadership in the fields of Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering; undergraduate and postgraduate lecturing; research leadership and project supervision; active engagement with industrial partners; University administration.
