    DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

    MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY’S DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions to begin Fall 2018. The appointments are expected to be made at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor while exceptional candidates at the Full Professor level will be considered. Applicants in all areas of engineering will be considered. It is expected that at least one postion will contribute to the newly established Flexible Assembly Systems Network (FASN). FASN activities include guiding, coordinating, and performing basic and applied research directed toward making manufacturing assembly operations smarter and more flexible, i.e., more responsive to product/process change.

    The Mechanical Engineering Department has recently experienced unprecedented growth in student enrollment. This growth, together with planned research growth,has resulted in the need for additional tenure-track faculty. The ME Department currently has 14 tenure track faculty members actively involved in research, teaching, and service . Investments in laboratory space and other research infrastructure (together with competitive recruitment packages) have allowed the department to attract and retain a world class faculty.

    With 57 full time faculty members and over 1,250 undergraduate, 300 graduate students, and $10.5M in extramural research funding, Marquette’s Opus College of Engineering is committed to preparing our graduates to be leaders in innovation and research on a global stage. Founded in 1908, the college is currently the largest Catholic, Jesuit Engineering College in the nation. The college has four departments: Biomedical (jointly with the Medical College of Wisconsin), Civil/Construction/Environmental, Electrical/Computer, and Mechanical Engineering. The college offers nine undergraduate, seven
    masters and five PhD degrees. The College is housed in 3 engineering buildings, including the recently completed Engineering Hall, which was part of the first phase of construction of several new buildings. The second phase, expected to begin soon, is a $750 million investment in expanding innovation, discovery, research and entrepreneurship that will include Innovation Alley, an Engineering/Business collaboration space.

    Marquette University, founded in 1881, is a comprehensive university located in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Milwaukee provides access to a variety of cultural and entertainment amenities such as theater, music venues and major sports franchises, as well as easy access to a variety of year round outdoor recreation activities.
