    The Nano-Bioengineering Laboratory at University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral associates to join our dynamic and fast-growing lab. Our interdisciplinary research focus is on developing nanotechnology-based approaches to better understand the brain and revolutionizing point-of-care infectious disease diagnosis. Recent efforts have led to new enabling tools for optical manipulation and molecular release in the brain, and innovative diagnostic methods. Our work is externally funded by federal and state agencies (NSF, NIH, and CPRIT) and non-profit organizations (American Heart Association). Our lab closely works with active researchers UT Dallas, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Yale University.

    We have several postdoctoral positions in the interdisciplinary area of nanotechnology and neuroscience. We seek applicants with a strong background in neuroscience, in vivo imaging, optical engineering or nanomaterials. A combination of these skills is useful but not required. Ideal candidates should be able to work in a collaborative environment, lead projects, learn new skills, communicate effectively, and accommodate some local or domestic travel for collaborative studies if necessary.

    Current research opportunities include:
    1. Collaborative project with Dr. Theodore Price at UT Dallas Center for Advanced Pain Studies involves innovative nanotechnology for optical control of proteins in live cells without genetic modification, and its application towards basic and applied science of chronic pain.

    2. Collaborative project with Dr. Robert Bachoo at UT Southwestern Medical Center involves development of a new transformative technique to overcome the blood-brain barrier, and its broad applications in neuroscience as well in the understanding and treatment of brain tumors.

    3. Collaborative project with Dr. Paul Slesinger at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai involves understanding neuropeptides neuromodulation in brain circuit and behavior by novel neuropeptide photorelease systems.

    4. Collaborative project with Drs. Jiangbing Zhou and Kevin Sheth at Yale University and Dr. Heather Hayenga at UT Dallas involves improving stroke treatment by novel nanotechnologies.
