    Area of Research: Lightweight and Multifunctional Composites

    Description of Duties: We are seeking post-doctoral fellow(s) to collaborate with a leading industry partner on the development of fundamental understanding of foaming process and foam properties with new proprietary materials. The fellow will also contribute to a fundamental research program exploring process-structure-property of various foam materials.

    Required Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD in mechanical/chemical engineering or Materials Science. Knowledge and relevant experience in related fields are required. Experience with high pressure rheology is advantageous. Knowledge of the fundamentals of various polymer characterizations is desirable. Candidates should be highly motivated, with an interest in augmented reality as an evolving mainstream technology and industry.

    Applicants must:

    · Demonstrate academic excellence and high potential for success in their chosen fields;

    · Identify as Indigenous and/or Black;

    · Have obtained a doctoral degree, normally within the last five years from the start date of the funding, or will have obtained the degree at the time the fellowship commences; and

    Excellent communication skills, strong independent research skills, and sensitivity to industry partner direction are also required. The candidate will be expected to work independently, provide leadership to an interdisciplinary team of graduate students, and produce publishable results.

    Salary: $7,000/year
    Expect start date: May 1, 2020
    Term: 2 years.
    FTE: 100%
    The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow (pro-rated for those holding a partial appointment) recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and the needs of the supervisor's research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.
