  • Ph.D. Positions - Multiphase flow and transport in porous media

    Multiple Ph.D. positions are available for highly-motivated students to carry out research in the broad area of flow and transport in porous media. The vacancies are available at the Thermo-Fluids & Interfaces Laboratory of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

    The Technion - Israel Institute of Technology is the top university in Israel and ranks as one of the most dynamic university campuses worldwide. The research and educational achievements of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering are globally recognised with the department ranked 16th in the world according to the 2020 Shanghai Ranking.

    The research projects include experimental, numerical and theoretical investigation of multi-phase and reactive transport in multi-porosity media. The PhD project duration is 36 months and the successful candidates will receive a competitive salary in accordance to the graduate school regulations.

    Ideal candidates should possess a Master in mechanical, aerospace, chemical, or civil engineering, applied physics, or related disciplines, and have experience in one or more of the following areas: fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, interfacial transport phenomena. Previous experimental experience in measurement techniques (e.g., PIV, micro-PIV, infrared thermography, fluorescent microscopy, liquid crystal thermography, flow sensors, shadowgraphy) is desirable, Knowledge of numerical methods or any programming language (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB) and commercial or open source multiphysics software (COMSOL, Fluent, OpenFoam) are an advantage. The ability to work within a highly collaborative research environment, good communication and organisational skills, and scientific initiative are paramount.
