The College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University solicits applications for a tenure-track faculty position with a concentration in mechanical, advanced materials or related areas with an interest in sustainability for wood products use and other fields congruent with Louisiana Tech’s Research Centers. Candidates must hold a doctorate or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or in a field with significant overlap. Candidates of particular interest include those with demonstrated research accomplishments in the field of mechanical or materials engineering including advanced timber composites or an ability to interface with on-campus research centers: (https://coes.latech.edu/research/institutes-centers/). Candidates must demonstrate the potential to conduct high-quality research and teaching and show expertise relevant to one or more of these centers.
A new Forest Products Center is being planned that will focus on solving forest industry problems and advancing the development of novel, sustainable wood products. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses that can include, fundamental mechanical or civil engineering courses like Structures, Materials, Environmental Sustainability or related labs. Successful tenure-track candidates are expected to actively participate in multidisciplinary research efforts in the College; initiate, build and sustain an externally funded research program; and supervise masters and doctoral students. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong teaching skills, and a commitment to high-quality university and professional service are also expected. The College is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
