    Position Description


    The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites applications for a Ph.D. student or postdoctoral researcher position, commencing in Spring or Fall 2025. The successful candidate will undertake advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to address critical issues in wind engineering and indoor air quality modeling.


    1. Ph.D. Candidates:


    Ideal candidates will possess a strong academic background in disciplines such as Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or Environmental Engineering. Key qualifications include:



    A research assistantship, inclusive of a tuition waiver and a financial stipend, will be provided.

    2. Postdoctoral Candidates:


    The position requires:



    • Research experience with open-source CFD packages (e.g., OpenFOAM)

    • Strong skills in programming for CFD

    • In-depth knowledge of fluid dynamics and turbulence modeling

    • A solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals

    • Excellent oral communication skills
