    Research Opportunity


    Application of signal processing and biomedical modelling methods to the field of Neuroengineering.


     


    Work description



    • Support in the acquisition and management of clinical data in the field of epilepsy, with a focus on patients with implanted deep brain stimulation systems.

    • Using the data to implement new neurostimulation strategies by modelling brain stimulation strategies using brain atlases and combining them with brain signals.

    • Investigating new interactions between different brain regions in order to optimise stimulation in patients with epileptic seizures.


    Academic Qualifications


    Master in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computers, Physics Engineering or similar.


    Minimum profile required



    • Familiarization with the area of Neuroengineering using brain modelling tools, as well as brain atlases.

    • Good knowledge of signal analysis and processing as well as programming.


    Preference factors



    • Knowledge of artificial intelligence classification methodologies.

    • Previous contact with the epilepsy area and preferably with deep brain stimulation signals.

    • Previous contact with EEG data collection systems and familiarization with the clinical environment.


    Maintenance stipend: € 990,98 or 1259,64, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.


    INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".


    The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
