École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), one of Canada's three leading engineering universities, is calling for nominations for a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in the Natural Sciences and Engineering (NSERC) to support its Strategic Area - Health Technologies in its Strategic Research Plan, and to contribute to the mission of a new Health Technologies Research Institute.
More specifically, the Chair proposal must address one of the following issues:
- Health and safety in the workplace and in sports;
- Diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation tools;
- Precision medicine;
- Artificial intelligence, enhanced reality and connected health;
- Optimization of healthcare system processes.
Detailed information on the 'Health and Well-Being' strategic orientation and the 'Health Technologies' strategic area is available in the ÉTS Strategic Research Plan, published online. (French only)
This Tier 1 seven-year Canada Research Chair, which is renewable once, is valued at $200,000 per year and contributes to the full funding of the Chairholder's research . The incumbent may also apply for infrastructure support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation's (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund program, co-funded by the Quebec government to a maximum value of $250,000 from each organization.
Part of the Université du Québec, ÉTS is a dynamic, fast-growing engineering school with a focus on "engineering for industry". With its campus located in the heart of downtown Montreal, ÉTS offers a stimulating multicultural environment and privileged access to many industrial and university partners. ÉTS comprises six engineering departments (construction, electrical, mechanical, aerospace, systems, software and information technology), with more than 220 faculty members and over 12,800 students. The establishment also boasts more than 35 chairholders and some 35 research groups.
Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
In accordance with its own recruitment policies, as well as the "Equal Access to Employment Program", ÉTS promotes excellence in research and research training, and guarantees equal opportunities for all candidates. It supports the principle that excellence and equity are compatible and complementary.
ÉTS is actively working to implement its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (French only), which aims to increase the representation of women, Aboriginals, people with disabilities, gender minorities and racialized people in Canada Research Chair positions.
Career interruptions due to parental, medical or family leave will be taken into account when evaluating candidates. Candidates are therefore encouraged to identify these periods in their curriculum vitae. This information will be taken into account in the evaluation of the application.
