    SUMMARY:
    Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant and/or Associate Professor in the broad area of computer engineering to be appointed in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (College of Engineering). Candidates with expertise in, but not limited to, real-time systems, embedded systems, and computer architecture are encouraged to apply.

    The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering houses six-degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCmpE), Bachelor of Science in Embedded Software Engineering (BSESE), Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MSECE), Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI), and Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Computer Engineering (PhDECE).

    JOB DUTIES:
    The successful candidate is required to teach graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and establish a strong, externally-funded research program in his/her area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will teach courses in Computer Engineering as assigned by the Department Chair, serve the department, college, and profession by undertaking committee work and leadership roles, and advise students.

    The following is the list of duties:



    • Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in computer engineering as assigned by the department chair.

    • Develop and sustain strong externally-funded research programs.

    • Advise undergraduate and graduate students.

    • Direct student engineering projects.

    • Participate in professional and university service activities.

    • Keep regular office hours to provide easy access to students.

    • Maintain current knowledge in fields of expertise.

    • Perform additional duties as assigned.


    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



    • Earned doctorate from an accredited university in computer engineering, or a closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is desirable.

    • Demonstrable interest in teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

    • Interest in establishing a robust and externally-funded research program.

    • Experience in computer engineering demonstrated by a strong publication record.

    • Strong interest in programming and computational approaches.

    • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative team.

    • Interest in working in a fast-paced research environment.


    LANGUAGE SKILLS: 
    Strong written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
