    Stellenbosch University invites applications from excellent doctoral graduates to apply for Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University. These fellowship enable recent doctoral graduates to join the University as postdoctoral researchers, and to develop their research skills and academic careers through participation in the University’s areas of research strength and strategic priorities. One of the University’s research strengths are energy and in the wide field of energy in heat transfer. This research is being conducted in the in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering.

    The Engineering Faculty has 4,000 students and is ranked by the ISI on citations as amongst the world’s top 1%. The Programme offered by the Departments is internationally recognised, via the Washington Accord.

    The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering which enjoys an international reputation in teaching and research, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for a Postdoctoral Position, to be filled as soon as possible.

    Postdoctoral Positions are awarded for periods of two years. Applicants are expected to be less than 35 years in age and must have obtained their PhD’s within the past five years. Publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals are expected. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and creative, with good communication skills and with expertise in heat transfer (single phase convection or condensation), nanonfluids, CSP and topology optimization.     The total monetary value of the fellowship for 2024 has not yet been finalised but is sufficient to include for accommodation, travel, and living costs (which are much cheaper than most other countries in the world). Opportunities are also available (without funding provided) to work online without the requirement to travel and live in South Africa while conducting postdoctoral studies. Funding opportunities might be available for one or more short visits to South Africa and to our University campus.

    We are looking for candidates for the Energy Research Group who has good CFD experience in the thermal sciences.
