  • Tenure Track Faculty
    Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering
    University of Notre Dame

The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in the areas of Scientific Machine Learning, Numerical Modeling and Uncertainty Quantification. While applications from all areas of scientific machine learning and numerical modeling will be considered, the department is particularly interested in candidates whose work complements and bridges existing strengths in computational engineering, fluid mechanics, materials, energy & manufacturing, and robotics & controls. We are especially focused on strategic priorities that include the integration of data-driven and physics-integrated modeling with traditional numerical methods, and the application of scientific machine learning to complex, real-world problems.

The Department seeks to attract, develop, and retain exceptional faculty members with strong records of achievement and significant future potential. The search is primarily aimed at the assistant professor level; however, candidates at all levels with strong records and promise will be considered. Possible position titles include Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Candidates at the entry level must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree or have completed all but dissertation in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates at the advanced assistant, associate, or full professor level must have a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential to achieve an internationally distinguished record of scholarship, establish a diverse, externally funded research program, excel in undergraduate and graduate education, and actively contribute to their research community and the university

Applicants are invited to provide any or all of the following: a cover letter; curriculum vitae; a comprehensive research plan; a statement of teaching philosophy and interests; contact information for three professional references; and a statement regarding potential contributions to the Notre Dame Community that aspires to respect the dignity of every person, enable all to flourish, and develop students with the moral character to live in solidarity with all, particularly the most vulnerable. All materials should be submitted via the application website (apply.interfolio.com/155398). We will begin reviewing applications on November 1, 2024 and will continue until December 1, 2024. Questions regarding this position may be directed to the search chair, Professor Ryan McClarren (rmcclarr@nd.edu)
