    Position Highlights


    The Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering (AME) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in low-speed experimental aerodynamics. Priority will be given to candidates who have a strong background in fundamental fluid dynamics.


    The successful candidate will be able to utilize the Arizona Low Speed Wind Tunnel (https://transition.arizona.edu/facilities/alswt) to conduct cutting edge research in fields such as aeronautics, flow control, boundary-layer transition, wind energy, and/or urban air mobility, among others. Candidates who can span several of these areas are also encouraged to apply. This position is part of the multi-year hiring process associated with growth in AME and the College of Engineering.

    Duties & Responsibilities



    • The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded and nationally and internationally recognized research program, teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to mentoring students, including those from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.

    • The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to an environment that nurtures collaboration among researchers across the Department, College and University.

    • The successful candidate will participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. In these, and other, ways the faculty member will help to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, ensuring equity, and expanding collaborations with community and business partners.


    Minimum Qualifications



    • Ph.D. degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline at the time of hire.

    • The selected candidate must provide education credentials during the offer discussions.

    • No experience beyond the Ph.D. is required for appointment at the Assistant Rank.

    Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report: 


    In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
