The Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering at Union College invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering, beginning September 1, 2025. Review of applications will begin on January 1, 2025 and continue until the position is filled.
Excellent candidates in all areas of Computer Engineering will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds or research interests in cybersecurity, computer networks, and communications. A Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or a closely related field is required. We welcome applications from candidates traditionally underrepresented in Computer Engineering. Candidates close to completing their doctoral thesis at the start of employment are also welcome to apply.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in computer networks and digital communications, technical electives in the candidate’s areas of expertise, and supervision of senior capstone projects. Applicants with a strong background in collaborative undergraduate teaching and/or with interdisciplinary research interests that intersect with arts and humanities are strongly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to undergraduate education while establishing and maintaining a high quality research program that involves undergraduate students. Union College recognizes the rich possibilities of interdisciplinary studies by offering many opportunities for both faculty and students to engage with multiple disciplines - and each other - in collaborative classroom settings and research initiatives. In 1845, Union College became the first liberal arts institution in the nation to offer a degree in engineering. We currently offer ABET-accredited degree programs in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, and new programs in Civil and Environmental engineering that will seek ABET accreditation. Our programs emphasize close student-faculty interaction with opportunities to study abroad, perform hands-on undergraduate research, and minor in disciplines ranging from theater and dance to history and economics.
