    Job Description


    The Department of Engineering Technology at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a Lecturer of Civil Engineering Technology (CET) position to begin July 25, 2025. This is an annual 10-month non-tenure-track appointment.

    The primary responsibilities for this position are as follows:


    1. Teach undergraduate courses in the Civil Engineering Technology program, including Construction Management and Site Development.

    2. Contribute to systematic planning and development of the civil engineering technology program.

    3. Participate in the professional and intellectual community through professional and university service and outreach activities within the college and department.

    4. Advise senior design capstone projects within their area of expertise.

    5. Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) among students, faculty, and staff.

    Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications


    By May 2025, the candidate must have an M.S. in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.

    Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities


    Experience in Civil Engineering Technology areas such as Construction Management or Site Development.

    Preferred Qualifications



    • Ph.D. in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.

    • A clearly articulated teaching philosophy that maps with the department areas of need listed in the requirements section.

    • Familiarity and capability to teach in online settings both synchronously and asynchronously.

    • A demonstrated commitment to service and contributions to relevant academic and professional groups.

    • Experience teaching courses related to Civil Engineering Technology in an academic setting.

    • Industry or consulting experience related to Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Site Development.
